We presented our stool Cap at DMY, the international design festival in Berlin. The modell of the cap had been banged and bruised to many times flying on a plane in home made boxes, so this time we hired a flight case and it made the trip back and forth A OK. The appearence at this years DMY was to anounce that the production of the stool finaly was on the way.

During Stockholm Designweek 2009 we shared a gallery space with Swedish artist Samir Alj Fält a.k.a The Lost Son. We presented half a decade, furniture made from 2003 to present day along with films/photos and drawings that showed our design process. Samir showed new products from the Sweatshop Industries collection and the new furniture line "Rest".

We showed our three stools Turn On Tune In Drop Out during Swedish Style in Tokyo. As part of the exhibition we made the last of our three stools in Tokyo the day before the opening. It was on a sunny afternoon, live, in front of an audience in Yoyogi Park.

Together with other Swedish creators we exhibited in Mitsubishis new scyscraper near the imperial palace. We made a big collage out of pictures from our lives that we mixed with colorfull reflective patterns provided by 3M. After the exhibition, the volunteers that helped with the exhibition got one piece each as a very late christmas gift.

DFTS once again went to Japan to exhibit. This time in a gymnasium together with many other designers. On five m² we made us a cozy room with a special made black concave wall that we decorated with our wallpaper "Magic Monogram #2". We also showed Giant Teddy and three little teddy babies.

Focusing on enhancing low seating, without sitting on the actual floor this monokrome green room featured 5 displayed objects: Below The Radar, a super-low sofa, the Undercover lamps, and Planted, a table wich fit potted plants in the base. More info on these products in the furnitures section.

With flamin' hot spacedisco mixes by dj lil;D, a real live Alice from Wonderland we participated in 2007 years furniture fair in Stockholm. We showed our disco-remix of the classic Arco lamp, the Giant Teddy, and premiered the 3M colabbo Magic Monogram#1. The light from the Arco disco-remix together with our magic monogram made the whole space sparkle, together with the sounds from the boombox it made us feel right at home, We had a lot of fun and we were happy to host the only after party at the fair on the opening day in our 3x3m box.

A photo exhibition curated by Gustaf (DFTS). This was his examination project for the masters program in international curating management at Stockholm University. The name of the exhibition was Monday and it's goal was to find out how other peoples lives looked like on a regular monday worldwide. 12 disposable cameras was sent out to kids between 14 and 29 years old. Six of them living in six of the worlds six continents.The other six were living in different parts of Stockholm. The assignement was to document an ordinary monday, from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed, one picture every hour. The cameras was sent back to Stockholm, developed and then put next to eachother on a timeline. The participants came from Los Angeles, Santiago, Tokyo, Entebbe, Melbourne, London and Stockholm.

To celebrate the release of our limited edition black & white postcard set, we created a small exhibition with our products the Peace-Pillow & Giant Teddy. For this occasion we worked together with the club collective Heads Up and the visual artist Unlucky Monkey. We invited all our friends and gave away 50 black & white postcard sets.

Furniture exhibition at the ministry of foreign affairs in Stockholm
In association with UD, Stockholm Furniture Fair, Stockholm Visitors Board

DFTS was hired to curate and design a secret furniture exhibition for the Swedish government. The exhibition area was inside the foreign affairs press hall and because of that there were many rules to follow. So we hired four massive green lasers and got to work. For the grand opening of the new Japanese concept store Tokyo Hipsters Club designed by Tom Dixon, DFTS were honoured to be among the first to be asked to exhibit. We premiered our first prototype for our stool Cap and also showed a teddy bear and our Headlamp.

Charity exhibition at Boutique Sportif in Stockholm

DFTS asked nine prominent Swedish creators from various disciplines to design a hand skateboard (7x27 cm) each. The boards were for sale at 800kr per board. The creators themselves decided which organisation to donate the money to. Five of the boards were sold and the opening party at Sportif was great with lots of good music, people, cheap beer and pop art. The creators were Boutique Sportif, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Defyra, Disey, Don't Feed The Swedes, Hundarna från söder, Radio LXMBRG, Samir Alj Fält, Ziggy.

DFTS was asked by Svensk Form (the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design) to create a lounge for the official opening party for the 2004 furniture fair in Stockholm. We designed a lounge featuring our lamp Academy and played records on top-of-the-line speakers from Bang & Olufsen.

DFTS arranged a one day art festival on the rooftop of Kulturhuset (the culture house) in Stockholm. We presented our lounge table Raphael, did the scene design and curated the participating performance acts. Swedish and Japanese djs and artists performed from 12:00-24:00 Swedish participants: DFTS, Dandy Digital, Axel Boman, Hird, Pettish, Derek and Toga. From Japan: Satoshi Kudo (former student of Sonny Chiba) with Stockholms Saxofonkvartett, dance performer Umeda, action painter Hiraku Suzuki, faderboard expert ShingO2 and dj A1.

Extreme Indoor Living was a design performance made by DFTS. The performance consisted of Andreas and Gustaf (DFTS) living in a small room inside a bar in central Tokyo with full exposure for 48 hours. DFTS decorated the living area with DFTS designs, played records and broadcasted this live on the internet. Fun Fact: this is how the name DON'T FEED THE SWEDES was born.
